Per the recommendation of Jay’s co-worker Clinton, the main dudes (sans Jayson) and I went to the Distillery District in Toronto for some brick-filled fun! Lots of galleries and expensive shops, complete with $2.50 cupcakes.
It was pretty quiet, as it was a Tuesday afternoon and most people were at their 9-to-5s.

My Dad’s arrival yesterday afternoon was a mixture of confusion, “fear” and then enthusiasm and love.
Upon seeing my Dad at the airport, Bennie ran from him, exclaiming to his father “Papa isn’t on the computer!” … I’m convinced he wasn’t making the connection between AIRPORT and PAPA the way he does AIRPORT and NINA (because she [thankfully] comes so often).
By the time we were wheeling my Dad’s luggage to the car, Bennie had given him a hug. By the time we’d gotten home, Bennie didn’t want to have anyone else take him out of his carseat except for Papa. Thank goodness.
By bedtime, Papa was reading a Miffy book to his little dude, and I almost cried. What a blessed, blessed thing.
Once I get my camera lens cleaned (ggrrr, Keens!), I’ll start taking some pics. Day 1 down, 14 to go.

Joaquin is definitely a better eater than Bennie was at this age (and at Bennie’s current age, too – LOL). Bubba’s yet to refuse anything, although he didn’t particularly enjoy my Fettuccine With Lima Beans, Peas, and Leeks (thank you, REAL SIMPLE magazine!) …
He’s recently started taking in a spoonful of food, chewing for a bit – and then pulling it back out to *investigate*. Really, Joaquin?! No, mijo. Aye muchacho.
He thinks it’s hilarious. And, as he has been doing since about 7 months old, when I tell him “NO!” he nods back to me “Yesyesyesyes”. Gah!
16 days, and he’ll be one. Goodness, how he’s becoming his own little person.
